Where are you going?
What do you want?
Your covered wagons
Your hope for a new land,

What do you hope to find in the dangerous land?
You take your horses
Farmers and food
Your lives come with you
The dangerous do too

The travel is long
The mountain's steep
The mornings are hot, nights are cold
What is in the west you wish for dearly?

Your travels take time
death is high
sickness is spreading
You keep on going why?

Pioneers,
You've risked your lives
The lives of your children
Friends and wives
You kept on going and here you are
But there is not much more for you here
and yet you thrive
